Real guides for real repairs. Built by someone who actually fixes things for a living.
My name is Kodi. I built HardLife Repairs because I was tired of watching people pay hundreds of dollars at repair shops for fixes that take 20 minutes and $15 in parts.
I have spent years working on small engines, ATVs, home appliances, welding equipment, and electrical systems. I am not a certified mechanic — I am someone who learned by doing, made mistakes, figured things out, and now wants to pass that knowledge along for free.
Every guide on this site comes from a real repair I have done or a real problem I have diagnosed. No filler, no theoretical advice, no padding. Just what actually works in the real world with real tools.
Starter solenoids, electrical faults, spark plugs, carbs — the stuff that leaves you stranded on the trail.
Dryers, washers, fridges. Most failures cost under $30 to fix yourself. No appliance experience required.
Mowers, generators, chainsaws. Keep your equipment running instead of buying new every few years.
Helmet selection, rod types, basic technique. Practical guidance for garage welding projects.
Multimeters, circuit breakers, outlets. Learn to test and diagnose before calling an electrician.
MacBook adapters, game controllers, chargers. Simple soldering repairs that save $50–100.
Tools are an investment. Repair skills are even more valuable. When you learn to fix your own stuff, you stop being at the mercy of shops with $150 diagnostic fees and six-week wait times.
Every guide on this site is written to be understood by someone who has never done the repair before. I include the parts, the tools, the order of operations, and the things that trip people up. I do not assume you already know what you are doing.
If a guide saved you money or taught you something new, that is what this site is for.
The store section of HardLife Repairs links to products I have personally used or thoroughly researched. I participate in the Amazon Associates program, which means I earn a small commission on purchases made through my links at no extra cost to you.
I only list tools I would actually buy. Commission rates do not influence what ends up in the store. A $10 carb cleaner that actually works earns its place; a $400 welder that is junk does not.
